MEXICO — Everett R. Roy, 84, of Youngs Park Road in Mexico, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, Oct. 12, with loving family watching over him.
He was born in Rumford, March 2, 1927, a son of Peter and Katherine (Roy) Roy. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Everett married Barbara Canwell on July 2, 1949, and together they celebrated 57 years of marriage. She passed away on Aug. 15, 2006.
He was employed for many years with Diamond Match Co. in Dixfield. Everett was very family oriented. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He was very proud of all of the grandchildren’s accomplishments in sports and in life in general.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and four-wheeling. Everett also enjoyed telling stories about all of his trips to the lake and in the woods. He always had a kind word for everyone and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.
Surviving are his four children, Bonnie K. Johnson and husband, Stephen, of Gray, Robert J. Roy and wife, Tina, of Mexico, Lori Ann Roy and companion, Bill, of Mexico and Darin Roy and wife, Katrina, of Mexico; five grandchildren, Joe Bedard, Andy Bedard, Tara Roy, Evrit Roy and Egan Roy; six great-grandchildren, Zack and Kassi Burgess, Kylie and Will Bedard and Kaden and Olivia Bedard; three sisters, Vangeline Humphrey of California, Jeannette Carr of Florida, and Lillian Miller of Wilton; three brothers, Albert Roy and wife, Jane, of Texas, Roy Roy and wife, Nancy, of New Hampshire, and Peter Roy and wife, Theresa, of Florida; and his longtime companion, Mildred Dresser.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Barbara; and three brothers, Edmond, Lawrence and Aimee.
Everett will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him, but his stories will live on forever.
