AUBURN — Marion Briggs, 77, of Auburn, passed away peacefully at the Hospice House Wednesday, Oct. 12, with her family by her side after a courageous battle of cancer.

She was born Dec. 15, 1933. in North Monmouth. Marion worked for the Auburn School Department and was known as one of the “lunch ladies,” also at K-Mart and at Temple Shalom as a secretary.

She enjoyed country music, country fairs, parades, balloon festivals and most of all being around people.

Survivors include her children, Mary Ann Doyle of Winthrop, Michael Alexander and wife, Ann, of Turner, Sharon Briggs of Pownal, Paul Briggs of Auburn and Sherry Grover and husband, George, of Auburn; a sister, Betty Morin of Lewiston; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her adoptive parents, Napoleon and Georgia Ridley Gagne; her husband, Paul Richard Briggs; a daughter, Shirley Briggs; and sisters, Pauline Walker, Arlene Poussard and Helen Dido.

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Rhonda Briggs, who was always there for the family and to the staff at Auburn Hospice House, who took such special care of Marion.
