Suppers begin

WATERFORD — A community suppers will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Wilkins Community House. The suppers will be held the third Thursday of each month through May.

The Community House is located in Waterford Flat on Plummer Hill Road behind the village green next door to the church.

Residents from the community and surrounding towns who would like to share a supper and socialize are invited to bring a favorite dish to share. Rolls, bread and beverages will be provided.

Church supper

NORWAY — A free supper will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at the Second Congregational Church, UCC, 205 Main St. It is the fourth in a series of free suppers.  All are invited for a dinner of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, veggies and dessert.

Harness dinner

PARIS — The Western Maine Harness Horseman’s Association will serve a chowder dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at the Paris fire station, Western Avenue. The menu will be corn chowder, biscuit, pickle and dessert.

Educators to meet

PARIS — Oxford County Educators-Retired will meet at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at First Congregational Church. Gail Butterfield will speak on “Daughters of Union Veterans.”

Homecoming Sabbath

BRYANT POND — The Woodstock Seventh-day Adventist Church will hold a homecoming Sabbath on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 43 Perkins Valley Road. The invitation is open to anyone who had connections past or present to the Woodstock Seventh-day Adventist Church or Forestdale Christian School.

The event will start at 9:30 a.m., with a worship session to follow at 11 along with a fellowship dinner. There will be a musical performance by Audience of One.

BRYANT POND — The Weary Club will hold a coffee hour from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at 385 Main St. next to Key Bank. All visitors are welcome.

Benefit supper

BUCKFIELD — The Evening Star Masonic Lodge will host a benefit supper for the Buckfield Food Bank from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22. Spaghetti, salads and desserts will be available; donations will be accepted. There will also be live entertainment.

Craft fair

PARIS — There will be a craft fair at the from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at the American Legion Hall, Church Street. The refreshments counter will be open.

Last indoor sale

WATERFORD — The Waterford Congregational Church last indoor yard sale of the season will take place from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 22, on Plummer Hill next to the church.

There will be Stampin’ Up stamp sets as well as other stamps and VCR movies for a $1 each. Christmas decorations are out as well. Proceeds will go to the building improvement fund.

Bean supper

NORWAY — A public baked bean supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Masonic Hall, 9 Temple St.

There will be four types of homemade beans, hot dogs, coleslaw, bread, beverages and homemade pies. Cost will be $7 for adults; $4, under 12; all you can eat.

Applications open

BRIDGTON — Bruce Roberts Toy Fund applications are available at the Bridgton Community Center. The deadline to submit an application is Friday, Nov. 4.

The fund gives toy packages to needy children, age infant to 18, of all ethnic backgrounds. The program has been in existence since 1949. Children from York, Cumberland, Sagadahoc, Lincoln and Knox counties are served.

Parents may apply individually or through a group. Groups help by identifying recipients, distributing applications and arranging local pick-up centers for clients.
