LEWISTON – L/A Arts Gallery 5 will offer a special two-day workshop for individuals to create a unique work of art, a plaster face mask of themselves. Artist Arla Patch will work with a small group in Gallery 5 to make and decorate these castings from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30.

Patch has worked extensively in photography, plaster casting, writing and other media to guide individuals through a variety of self exploration experiences that culminate in a very personal work of art. The two days in Galley 5 will be focused on faces. During the first day there will be a discussion of the process and the actual casting of each participant’s face mask. The second afternoon will be devoted to decorating the masks. A variety of materials for decorating will be available, but participants are encouraged to bring personal items to build into their masks.
