FARMINGTON — Two men remained in jail Monday after their weekend arrest on charges they broken into a house and shed in Chesterville on Sept. 25 and stole firearms.

Two firearms and mechanic tools were taken from an unoccupied mobile home and shed at 137 Adams Road, Franklin County Lt. Niles Yeaton said Monday.

Franklin County Sheriff Cpl. Kenneth Charles investigated the case arrested James P. Moore, 34, of Wilton on Sunday on a warrant on felony charges of burglary and theft of a firearm, Yeaton said.

Farmington police arrested Scott Kidder, 31, of Farmington on Friday on a warrant on felony charges of burglary and theft of a firearm, he said.

Yeaton said he believed all firearms and tools stolen were recovered.

A burglary conviction carries up to five years in prison and a theft of firearm conviction carries up to 10 years.

Moore and Skidder appeared in 12th District Court on Monday, a corrections officer at Franklin County Jail said.

Moore’s bail was set at $500 cash or a Maine pretrial service agreement.

Kidder’s bail was set at $1,000 cash.

Kidder was arrested in August by the Franklin County Sheriff Department on a charge of theft related to automobile parts being stolen from a Temple property. Kidder was one of six men charged in that case.

Moore and Kidder men remained at Franklin County jail in Farmington as of midafternoon Monday.
