HARRISON — The Recreation Department’s Election Day cafe will be open Nov. 8 beginning at 8 a.m. at the Town Office.

Recreation Department Director Paula Holt said a variety of baked and hot foods and beverages will be available to voters.

The cafe is in the town garage next to the voting area.

“We will be selling breakfast breads and muffins, soups, chowders, chili, breads, baked beans, steamed hot dogs, pies, hot/cold beverages and election specials,” Holt said. “All proceeds will go to our recreation programs.”

Although the department raised just under $1,000 during the 2008 presidential elections, voter turnout this year is not expected to be as heavy so the profits are not expected to be as big, she said.

Lunchtime, she said, is the busiest time of the day for the cafe workers. The food is eat in or take out.
