Special programs:
* Nov. 15: Increase your Odds of Getting a Job. Job seekers will meet with a panel of hiring experts from four local businesses and learn how to get their resume on the “Yes” pile, master the phone interview, account for employment gaps, emphasize experience not age, and more. 9-10 a.m. Registration required: call 753-9005.
* Nov. 8: “L/A—It’s Happening Here!” Androscoggin County has seen a lot of growth in recent years. Participants will learn about exciting opportunities for job searches based on recent economic and business developments in our area. Presented by Jan Barrett of the Ware Street Inn and the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce. From 2-5 p.m.
* Nov. 22: “Envision Success” Participants will explore passions and strengths, will build job-search confidence and will learn how to create a positive image with employers. Participants will also strategically plan and organize their job search around what they are seeking from the world of work. Presented by Janice Cohen of Cohen Leadership Consulting in Hallowell. From 2-5 p.m.

* Aging Worker Initiative Orientation: The AWI connects aging workers (55+) with viable employment and training opportunities in the fields of health care, green energy and technology. Join us to discuss your goals and find out how this program can help you prepare for your next job. Registration required. Nov. 21, 10:30 a.m.-noon.
* Career Decision Making: A two-part workshop. On Monday, you will discuss tools you can use to help make career decisions. On the second day, you will use the information you gained to make your career and training plans. Registration required. Nov. 14 and Nov. 18 or Nov. 28 and Dec. 2.
* Non-Traditional Occupations for Women: Meet with an NTO specialist to explore NTOs for women: types of jobs, pay rates, employers with NTO opportunities, transferable skills, self-assessments, training, etc. Registration required. * CareerCenter Training Orientation is an overview of training programs at the CareerCenter, eligibility requirements and information on accessing services. Ask CareerCenter staff for the schedule of meetings and to register.
* Essentials of College Planning for Adults: The basic steps for successful college enrollment: learn about college & trade schools, entrance requirements, readiness & transitional issues of adult students, admissions procedures & financial aid. Much more, including admissions and financial aid information. Bring last year’s income tax forms. Register by calling 800-281-3703.
* An adult education representative will help you explore options to improve your job skills and which adult education programs or classes will best meet your needs based on your interests and career goals. Nov. 2, 9, 16, 23 or 30, from 10:15-11 a.m.
* Orientation for people with disabilities who are considering vocational rehabilitation services are held the third Friday of the month. Service providers are also welcome to attend. Nov. 18 from 1-2:30 p.m.
Job search activities
* GATEway to Employment: Gives a great overview of basic information on resumes, interviews and job search skills, as well as CareerCenter and community services that are available to you during your job search. Learn how the CareerCenter can help you. Registration required. Every Thursday from 1-4 p.m.
* Job Search Tips for People with a Criminal History: Do you have a criminal back ground? Are you having trouble finding work? This workshop will help you become a successful job seeker. * Job Search, Resumes & Interview Skills: Explore the basics of job search, resumes, applications, and interviews. Learn how to stand out in a positive way by marketing yourself in a way that directly matches employer needs. “Tough” interview questions will be discussed so that you can answer them with confidence.
