LISBON — A Massachusetts man was charged Thursday in connection with the theft of a pickup truck at a shopping center on Route 196 in Lisbon Falls, police said.
Patrick Greeley, 35, of Malden, was a passenger in a 2001 GMC Yukon that was stopped Thursday by the U.S. Border Patrol in Jackman, Lisbon police Detective Bernie McAllister said. He declined to say what Greeley was charged with.
Police responded to a shopping center after getting a report that a 1995 Dodge Dakota had been stolen from there Wednesday afternoon. They found an abandoned 2008 Nissan Sentra bearing Massachusetts plates in the lot, McAllister said.
The Dodge pickup was recovered in Lisbon Falls about 30 minutes after the initial theft report, he said.
A short time later, Lisbon police received a report that a 2001 GMC Yukon had been stolen from the Frost Hill Avenue area of Lisbon Falls. It was stopped at 9:30 a.m. Thursday by the U.S. Border Patrol in Jackman, the detective said, with Greeley inside.
A check with Massachusetts authorities confirmed the abandoned Nissan had been stolen from Malden, Mass., on Tuesday, he said.
The investigation is continuing and further details were not released Thursday night, McAllister said.
