PARIS — Oxford Federal Credit Union donated $500 to the Oxford Helping Hands Food Pantry in conjunction with its partnership with Oxford Hills Middle School.

The school raised $500 at a dance this year and gave the money to the credit union to donate to the charity of its choice.

“Maine credit unions are all about helping people in need and we support our own Ending Hunger in Maine charity throughout the year,” Kim Davis of the credit union said. “Donating the money the kids raised to help a new food pantry in their own community made good sense.”

The Helping Hands Food Pantry was established in May and accepts monetary and nonperishable items. It is especially in need of canned ravioli, cereal, peanut butter and pasta sauces.

The pantry is on the third floor of the Oxford Town Office and is open Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m. Anyone in need of receiving food from the pantry can fill out an application at the town office.

Oxford Federal Credit Union has offices in Norway and Mexico.
