FARMINGTON — Barbara E. Gordon, 78, of Fairbanks, formerly of Fayette, passed peacefully in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Nov. 8, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, with family at her side.

She was born June 6, 1933, in Fayette, the daughter of Lawrence and Katherine (Kempton) Kent. She received her education in Connecticut, and Fayette and on Feb. 11, 1952, married Lyle (Pete) Gordon in Farmington. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, she was employed at Aramark at the University of Farmington, and at GH Bass from where she retired.

She is survived by her four sons, William (Bill) and companion, Peggy Smith, of Wilton, Fred and Cynthia of Newport News, Va., Lyle Jr. and companion, Jill Davis, of Farmington and Tom of Jay; three daughters, Betty and her husband, Dara Maguire, of Farmington, Theresa and her husband, Jon Karkos, of Temple and Patricia and her husband, Ronald Stanley, of Wilton; 14 grandchildren, Joshua and Jennifer Gordon, Michelle Welch, Jonathan Boutilier, Aisling and Eoghan Maguire, Scottie and Edward Swinton, Chris Gordon, Kim Pease, Katie Hodel, Justin Gordon, Kayla Karkos and Dylan Gordon; and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lyle (Pete) Gordon on Oct. 2, 2006; and her sibling, Eugene F. Kent on May 14, 2010.
