Normand and Joan

Gagnon

AUBURN — Normand and Joan Gagnon celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary recently at the American Legion Hall. The event was planned by their granddaughter, Danielle Jamison and she was also the toastmaster.

The hall was decorated in gold and silver with balloons, banners, hanging ceiling stars and a display of wedding photos. A special reading was presented for both couples. After dinner, a chocolate or vanilla cake was served, followed by an evening of dancing.

Mr. Gagnon and the former Joan Derosier were married Aug. 26, 1961, at Holy Family Church in Lewiston. They have one daughter, Susan Jamison and two grandchildren, Danielle Jamison and Jonathan Jamison.

Mrs. Gagnon worked at Crest Shoe as a top stitcher for 29 years, until it closed down. She then became a full time homemaker.

Mr. Gagnon worked at Knapp Shoe for many years as a leather inspector, then for the Auburn School Department as a custodian and then as a school bus driver. He retired in 2005.

The celebration also included Kevin and Susan Jamison of Turner, daughter and husband of the couple, who celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.
