More than 400 citizens, including Maine’s congressional delegation, local officials and retired police officers, have been invited to attend Friday’s dedication of Lewiston’s $1.6 million police station on Park Street.

Maine Supreme Court Justice Robert W. Clifford will be the keynote speaker for the invitation-only opening ceremonies at 3 p.m. at the City Building on the first floor.

Also expected to attend is the family of the late Paul Simard, in whose memory the station will be dedicated. Simard is the only Lewiston officer ever to die in the line of duty.
