Advocates for Children recently delivered purple hats to Central Maine Medical Center’s Special Delivery Family Birthing Center to bring awareness to abuse prevention. The hats, handmade by volunteers, will be given to each baby born at CMMC during November. The purple caps are part of a national campaign to increase awareness of the Period of Purple Crying, a normal period in an infant’s development when they cry more than any other time. CMMC Nurse Kate Preston, left, presented new mom, Stephanie Renaud, a purple cap for her baby, Alia Ramsey.
