DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thanks to you, we found a supply of packing peanuts that lasted us nearly three years! However, World Over Imports is no longer in business, and our supply is now running low. I wonder if any other businesses in our area might be interested in recycling their chips? We’re happy to pick up boxes of both used packing peanuts and bubble wrap. Thank you! — Bill Cartmel-Maroldo, billstuff.com, Lewiston, 795-1386, [email protected]
DEAR SUN SPOTS: At the Nov. 12 Leavitt craft fair, a woman bought a wreath and forgot to pick it up before she left. We’re hoping she will call Betsy at 336-2928. — Elizabeth Dunn, [email protected]
DEAR SUN SPOTS: This is in response to the Nov. 7 question about Jupiter the cat at Pet Quarters in Auburn. A few days before they closed, I went in to see what was happening and found out the sad news of their closing. I then asked what happened to Jupiter and was told that he passed away a few years ago. He had gotten worse with his paralysis but did live to be (if I remember correctly) about 12 years old. He was much loved and will be missed by a lot of customers, including myself. — Angie, Sabattus
DEAR SUN SPOTS: The only reason I went to Pet Quarters so many times was to visit Jupiter (Nov. 7 letter). A fellow cleaning out the store told us Jupiter had to be euthanized as his medical problems had worsened and it was the right thing to do.
He also said Jupiter’s remains were cremated and his ashes given to the mother of the little boy who originally owned Jupiter. May he rest in peace and may other cats be loved as much as he was by so many people. — No Name, No Town
DEAR SUN SPOTS: A few weeks ago you ran my letter regarding the semi-truck crash on Nov. 8, 1972, at the Route 4 and 117 north bridge entrance in Turner Village that killed my older brother.
I deeply appreciate the many people from Turner and elsewhere in the Lewiston area who called me to relate their personal memories and involvement in that terrible accident. Many folks gave encouraging words regarding the involved lengthy effort by Turner residents and rescue teams on behalf of my brother to try to save his life.
Thanks to the Sun Journal for its assistance and for sending copies of the story published the day after the accident.
I am offering $100 to anyone who can dig up photographs pertaining to that accident, or who can help me locate any photographs taken that day at the scene. In addition, I am offering $35 for a good photo taken from the north side at the bridge entrance at Route 4 and 117 that shows the old bridge and Nickerson’s store. — Henry Kamps, 616-437-3642, [email protected]
DEAR SUN SPOTS: In response to the Nov. 11 letter from a reader looking for a manual, here’s a website that has 300,000 manuals free for download: www.manualsonline.com.
Also you helped me find a person wanting Sun Journal crossword puzzles. She has now passed away and Iam looking for some one else to send them to for free. I already have about 100. — Pete Alberda, 777-1184, [email protected]
