Don Bilodeau, president of the Western Maine Labor Council, loads frozen turkeys into a truck that will be delivering some of the 50 Thanksgiving baskets to the families of area laid-off workers and other families in need during the holiday season. Several community leaders, politicians, union workers and other volunteers met at the Western Maine Labor Council in Lewiston on Monday afternoon to distribute the baskets. Solidarity Harvest is a statewide project, coordinated by Food and Medicine and the Eastern Maine Labor Council, that brings unions, farmers, faith communities and local businesses together in solidarity to support families in need during the holiday season.
