AUBURN — Week 2 results from Auburn/Lewiston YMCA Biddy Basketball:
Junior Division
Emerson Toyota 37, Platz Associates 26 — Kyle Herald led a balanced attack with nine points as Emerson Toyota outlasted Platz Associates to open Saturday’s slate of nine Biddy Basketball contests at the Auburn/Lewiston YMCA. Alex Thompson added seven points, Storm Jipson six and Robert Tremaine six for the winners. Jacob Kyajohnian and Jaden Legare rounded out the scoring with five and four respectively. Olivia Dubois, Madison Thistlewaite and Rosalie White chipped in with strong defense and playmaking.
Ben English led Platz with a game-high 12 points with Emmy Lashua adding six. Other scorers included Joel Stubbs (four), Teagan Galway (two) and two from Abdulwahab Mohamed. Nathan Farnsworth, Julia Masters and David Oken provided hustle and intensity.
Leary & DeTroy 38, Hoop Camp 28 — Leary & DeTroy exploded out to a 14-0 first period lead which proved to be the difference as they held off a spirited effort from Hoop Camp the rest of the way. Ethan Brown paced the winners with 10 points, followed closely by Ethan Bosse’s eight. Adding six each were Austin Brown and Serena Mower. Khadar Heeban and Chantel Ouellette each added four. Lauren Jutras controlled the boards and Khalid Heeban added defense to the winning formula.
Jahlen Coney tossed in a game-high 13 and Piper Norcross eight to lead the Campers. Other scorers included Brian Demers (four), Taylor Depot (two) and Camden Poisson (one). Spencer Morrill, Ryan Salk and Richard Thurston provided spark to the comeback effort.
Pat’s Pizza 33, Gee & Bee Sporting Goods 24 — Pat’s jumped out to a quick 11-0 advantage and held on to take down Gee & Bee. Tyler Swanbeck and Tyler Libby led the victors with 11 and eight respectively. Devaunte Rembert and Jade Perry each contributed six and Josh Hamel added two. Defensive sparkplugs for the winners were Oceanna Chamberlain, Josh Kaiser and Dan Nalley.
Caleb Yarnevich had 11 points and Ryan Therriault nine to lead Gee & Bee. Other scorers included: Giles Paradie (two), Jonah Crowell (two) and Christian Beliveau (one). Playmakers for Gee & Bee were Kathryn Childs and Cameron Winslow.
American Concrete 37, Downeast Financial 37 — The Juniors saved the best for last. American Concrete used a 16-point fourth quarter surge to salvge a tie with Downeast Financial in the final contest of the day. Grace Fontaine scored all six of her points in the crucial fourth quarter for American. Tyler Morin led the way with 10 points with Mohamed Mohamed and Keegan Pelletier adding six each. Patrick Luizzo’s five and Courtney Richard’s four rounded out the scoring for the American. Otis Caron, Nick Hartley and Hunter McQuade were key contributors to the comeback effort.
Hank Duval blistered the nets for a game-high 18 and Grant Hartley added 10 for Downeast. Grace Beaudet (six), Sarah Sterling (two) and Sofia Hartley (one) were the other Downeast scorers. Jayson Taylor, Kirsten Main, Katelyn Jipson and Nick Davis were defensive stalwarts in a tremendous effort.
Pee Wee Division
M&P Used Auto Parts 40, Anthoine Financial Group 20 — Led by 22 points from Corey Weirs, M&P enjoyed an offensive explosion in doubling up Anthoine Financial. Josh Murphy and Justin Bulmer added six each for the winners. Aaron Galway’s four and Harrison Gray’s two completing the scoring. Sam Courtemanche and Shane Kilby added hustle and grit to the winning effort.
Anthoine’s balanced attack was led by Lindsay Adams and Nick Gagne with six each. Olivia Ouelette added four, Braden Paradie two and Anson Paradie two to round out the scoring. Marshal Adams, Ella Perry and Meaza Paradie were key playmakers for Anthoine.
Hammond Lumber 21, Morrison & Sylvester 17 — A 10-2 run in the fourth quarter proved to be the difference as Hammond Lumber upended Morrison & Sylvester. Quincy Coachman’s nine points led the way in a winning effort. Others finding the scoresheet were: Brady Cox (four), Michelle Cowie (two), Tyson Green (two), Liam Flynn (two) and Rylen Schenk (two). Cameron Langis and Aiden Hebert were lock down defenders for Hammond.
Joey Vallee’s eight and Ethan Chute’s six were the leading scorers for Morrison & Sylvester. Finnegan Thistle and Cooper Watkins had two and one, respectively. Calvin Ames, Tyler Murray, Alex Thistlewaite, Addison Dostie and Simon Hayes were all-around contributors in a hard-fought effort.
C.B. Bachmann 17, Austin Associates 5 — Defense was the calling card for C.B. Bachmann in a stifling win over Austin Associates. Dominick Jacobs and Dylan Sellinger tossed in six points each to lead the Bachmann offense. Tyler Jalbert added three and Mike Chaput two to account for the winning margin. Defensive cogs Hannah Chaput, Jack Hart, Fiona King, Austin Sellinger and Caroline White puts the clamps on the Austin offense.
Julia Berube, Lydia Celani and Owen Hamel combined for the Austin scoring. Caleb Davis, Jason Brooker, Libby Forgues, Zachery Jawer, Chase Martin and Elizabeth Marcotte displayed hustle and defense in a tough battle.
Sam’s Italian Sandwich Shoppe 24, Hahnel Bros. 13 — Dan Milks paved the way with a game-high 18 points to power Sam’s to a win over Hahnel Bros. Nick Kaiser, Ray Nichols and Hunter Young rounded out the scoring with two points apiece. Kora Martel, Matt Scholer and Ben Webber were the playmakers for Sam’s.
Trevor Bosse had a team-high six points for Hahnel, followed by Ben Sirois’ four. Luke Josephson added a bucket and Steven Parshall a free throw to close out the scoring. Tristin Blossom, Jacob Jackson and Matt Metivier were defensive catalysts.
Sun Journal 26, Heidi’s Brooklyn Deli 17 — Sun Journal held off a strong effort from a pesky Heidi’s team to pick up a victory in the final game of the day. Jamaine Luizzo’s game-high twelve led the SJ offense. Cayden Childs and Wyatt Morse each added six and Devonte Scott chipped in two to complete the scoring. Andrea Demers, Elijah Demers, Emily Kramarz, Noah Peck and Ari Perry played aggressive, unselfish basketball for the winners.
Dylan Bilodeau and Ben Poland led a well balanced attack with four points each for Heidi’s. Caroline Hammond (three), Landon Cougle (two), Ryan Marston (two) and Connor Leclerc’s two completed the scoring. Cameron Irish, Emily Piper and Tyler Smith exhibited tremendous hustle for Heidi’s.
