100 years ago, 1911

The new vaudeville offering today at Music Hall, includes one of the greatest dancing acts in vaudeville. Bruce Morgan and his Piccadilly Johnnies are considered the cleverest quartet of foot-workers that ever tapped the pines of a stage floor. Nattily costumed, these boys from “Dear Old Lunnon” will astonish local patrons who have seen some of the right smart foot-workers.

50 years ago, 1961

Lewiston Public Works Department Director George J. Mahar yesterday warned local residents that ordinances are on the books which outlaw the placing of snow in the streets after the plows have cleared the area and added that they could be prosecuted for doing so.

25 years ago, 1986

Two Oxford Hills printers won awards at the Third Annual Maine Graphic Arts Association Award Dinner held Nov. 20 at the Augusta Civic Center. The awards are part of the association’s Printing Excellence Program.

Copyset of South Paris, owned and operated by Lois Lindsey, won a first-place prize and Western Maine Graphics of Oxford, owned and operated by Bruce Day, received a first, second and third-place award.
