AUGUSTA (AP) — Power has been restored to virtually all of the Maine homes and businesses that lost service in the storm that dumped close to a foot of snow in parts of the state Wednesday.
Central Maine Power estimates that more than 28,000 customers were without power at some point during the storm. By 9 p.m., fewer than 200 customers were still in the dark, and crews were doing final repairs to lines serving customers in several towns. The company’s website still listed a few scattered outages Thursday morning.
Many of the outages were caused by vehicles sliding off roads and into power lines. Others were due to tree limbs coming down on power lines under heavy snow.
