Historical society

PARIS — The final meeting of the Paris Cape Historical Society for 2011 will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at its museum at 77 High St. The final open house will also be held that day, from 1 to 4 p.m.

The public is welcome to come and celebrate as the society holds a Christmas party in the evening. Cynthia Immonen will tell an illustrated story related to Christmas. Ben Conant will play Christmas carols on the vintage organ to accompany the singing of carols, a feature that was greatly enjoyed last year. Special Christmas cookies, breads and other delights will be served.

Next year’s first meeting will be held in April, and open house will commence in May.

Plays performed

BETHEL — Senior College players of Western Mountains Senior College will present their annual performance from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, and Saturday, Dec. 3, at the McLaughllin Science Center, Trustees Auditorium, Gould Academy.

Nine serious and comic plays will be performed by a 16-member troupe directed by Lynn Arizzi. Admission is free. Donations accepted to offset royalty fees. For more information, contact Arizzi at 824-0080.

Fair, tea

BETHEL — The annual Christmas Fair and Tea will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at West Parish Congregational Church, UCC, Church Street.

Nezinscot fair

BUCKFIELD — The annual Nezinscot Valley Holiday Fair at Buckfield Jr./Sr. High School will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3.

The fair will feature more than 60 local crafters and vendors including handmade jewelry, soaps, knitted items, wood carving, photography, pottery, raffles and more.

Photos with Santa will begin at 10, there will be live musical performances throughout the day and a variety of lunch items will be available.

Clothing center

HARTFORD — Hartford Community Church Clothing Center will be open from 1 to 2:3 p.m. Saturdays, Dec. 3 and 17.

The Clothing Center is located on Church Street, directly opposite the Hartford Community Church.

Chinese auction

OXFORD — The Resistance Ministries, a nonprofit youth ministry, will hold their 5th annual “A Christmas to Remember” Chinese auction on Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Oxford Rec building on King Street.

The auction is open to the public. Doors will open at 1:30 p.m. and the ticket drawing starts at 3. There will be hundreds of brand news items along with a dollar table, 50/50 raffle, grab bags and food and drink available for purchase.

The ticket prices at the door start at 50 tickets for $10 and 100 tickets for $20. There are advance ticket deals, while they last, starting at 200 tickets for $25, 300 tickets for $30, 400 tickets for $35 and 500 tickets for $45. OXFORD — Hosanna Church Women’s Fellowship will hold a craft fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at Hosanna Church, 109 Schoolhouse Road.

Stuff the bus

OXFORD — The Glenn Beck 9/12 Charity Project and friends of the Oxford Food Pantry are holding “Stuff the School Bus” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at the Ocean State Job Lots and Dollar Tree parking lot on Route 26. Benefits the Oxford Helping Hands Food Pantry.

Craft fair

PARIS — The West Paris Fire Auxiliary will hold a craft fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the West Paris Agnes Gray School. There will be door prizes and a 50/50 raffle. PARIS — An Advent Fair will take place from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 3, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 34 Buckfield Road.

There will be new and like-new items, decorations, a bake sale and coffee luncheon. Parking is plentiful and a handicapped access is available at the rear of the building.

Snow clubs dance

RUMFORD — Four area snowmobile clubs will have a dance from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Eagles. Live entertainment will be provided by the Hooligans. There will be a 50/50, raffles and a door prize. Tickets are available from these clubs: the Polar Bears, the Trailblazers, Peru and Dixfield. Tickets go fast so buy early. Making cards

WATERFORD — A “Stamp-a-Stack” Stampin’ Up! card-making party will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at the Wilkins Community House in Waterford Village. This is a benefit for the Waterford Congregational Church, UCC, to help raise funds for the rebuilding of the church steeple.

For $20, participants can make 10 cards, two each of five Christmas designs.
