Collecting for Santa’s Helpers

RUMFORD — Santa’s Helpers will have a collection box for people to donate at the local vendor fair Friday, Dec. 2, at Black Mountain of Maine. Xandy Morton said they are in need of toys for boys and girls ages 7-12.

There will be raffles as well at the fair, held from 3 to 9 p.m. For more information, call Morton at 392-1550.

Elks honor departed

RUMFORD — The Rumford Lodge of Elks 862 will honor their departed members in a special ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 4, at the lodge on 60 River St.

Those honored will include Matthew Plante, John Johnston, Thomas Theriault, Peter Perry PER, Norman Theriault, James Perry, Raymond Berryment, Thomas Bulger, Joseph Sciaraffa, Maurice LeCours, Roma LaPerle, Edward Daigle PER, David Chaisson, James Buccina and Robert Serafin.

The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. with a lunch following for all attending. Open to all members, guests and families of departed brothers.

Class of 1952

MEXICO — The class of 1952 from Stephens High of Rumford will meet at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at the Covered Wagon for their monthly luncheon. All classmates and guests welcome.

Potluck supper

ANDOVER — The Snow Valley Sno-Goers snowmobile club will hold a holiday potluck supper at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, at the clubhouse off Route 5. Please bring a potluck item; all are welcome. The supper will be followed by a club meeting at 7 p.m. and the drawing of the fall 50/50 prize.

Also gratefully accepted will be gifts for the Andover Elementary School store, enabling the students to obtain gifts for family and friends for minimal or no cost. This is the third year the club has helped the school store.

Craft fair

ANDOVER — Andover Firemen’s Association will hold a craft fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Andover Fire Department.

There will be lunch on sale at noon. Santa arrives at 1 p.m.

Class of 1953

MEXICO — Stephens High School Class of 1953 will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at the Chicken Coop.

Comedy night

RUMFORD — The Rumford American Legion will host Dinner, Laugh and a Dance from 4:30 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Rumford American Legion. A Mexican supper will be served from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. A comedy show 7 to 9 p.m. will feature Dennis Fogg, Dave Andrews and Bryce Hanson (adult content). A dance will take place from 9 to 11 p.m.

Menu for the evening will be salsa and chips, choice of shredded pork, chicken or ground beef chimichangas, burritos, taco salads or tostados and for dessert churros. Tickets available at the Legion for $20 per person.

Snow club meeting

MEXICO — The Mexico Trailblazers Snowmobile Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, downstairs at the Mexico Town Hall. The group meets the first and third Wednesday of every month.
