Quilters to meet
RUMFORD — Rumford Area Quilters will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at the Rumford United Methodist Church, Linnell Street. A bite-size tasting party will take place. Members are asked to provide “bites” for 30 quilters.
Items will be collected for the annual New Borns in Need baby shower.
The Festival of Trees will take place Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Rumford Municipal Building. The RAQ tree will be on display decorated with ornaments made by members.
All area quilters are welcome to meetings. For more information, call 562-7050.
Michaud to visit
BETHEL — The Oxford County Democrats will hold a potluck lunch and meeting at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at Crescent Park School.
Congressman Mike Michaud will visit and offer an update.
Additional featured speakers will be former Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap of Old Town and State Rep. Jon Hinck of Portland. In addition, local incumbent legislators and county officials will attend, along with a number of 2012 candidates and those considering a run for office.
Business items will include election of a member of the Maine Democratic State Committee and a member of the Platform Committee, as well as information on the March 2012 caucuses to be held throughout the county.
Those attending are asked to bring a food item to share, such as a hot dish, sandwich fixings, salads or dessert item, as well as a canned or packaged donation for the local food pantry.
