DEAR SUN SPOTS: For those readers looking for cooking supplies (Nov. 22 and 23), I can also heartily recommend Now You’re Cooking at 49 Front St., downtown Bath. It’s about the same distance as the Portland stores, and it is well stocked (especially for appliances and attachments such as the dough hook).

What’s more, it’s a locally owned store which carries a number of local products and has some very helpful and knowledgeable staff. It’s one of Midcoast Maine’s well-kept secrets. Their website is www.acooksemporium.com. — James Myall, James_Myall@yahoo.co.uk

DEAR SUN SPOTS: On Nov. 22 you mentioned two cooking stores in Portland. I would like to recommend another one, which is located in Bath. This is a wonderful store,

with almost anything and everything that anyone could want for the kitchen. It is Now You’re Cooking, 49 Front St., Bath, 443-1402. Thank you for a wonderful and helpful column. — S.P. via email

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In response to a letter in your column on Nov. 22 at LeRoux Kitchen in Portland, we do carry a hand mixer that comes with dough hook attachments. It is a Cuisinart model HM-90S; it has nine speeds and comes with two dough hooks, a whisk, two extra-long beaters, a spatula and a storage case. The price is $69.99.

We are located in Portland’s Old Port, directly across from DiMillo’s Restaurant. If parking is a concern, I would suggest coming in early. We open at 9 a.m., and that first hour of the day is a good time to find on-street parking. If your reader has any further questions, she can call the store at 553-7665.

We also carry the plastic dough scrapers that another reader was looking for. Thanks! — Michele Wigton, online manager, www.lerouxkitchen.com, mwigton@lerouxkitchen.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: For the person who was looking for a mixer with a dough hook, Sears was advertising one the other day. I have always bought my Kitchenaid machines at Walmart. If using the dough hook, the highest speed you should use is 2. I read the book after I burnt one out!

Quite some time ago, someone was looking for one of those rotating colored things for lighting Christmas trees. Vermont Country Store has them. — barker@fairpoint.net

DEAR SUN SPOTS: This is in response to the Nov. 22 request for a dough scraper. I know exactly which one they are speaking of; it’s yellow and flat with a divot for your fingers. It was made by Tupperware and is very useful. I use an old one to spread glue over my finished puzzles. The following stores have them: www.goodcook.com, www.pamperedchef.com, www.amazon.com and www.grainger.com. Hope these help! — Angie, Sabattus

DEAR SUN SPOTS: This is for the lady who is looking for a plastic dough scraper. She may try and look at the Dollar Tree Stores. Recently I was in the Augusta Dollar Tree Store, while looking around I stumbled on this item. It is redplastic and has Betty Crocker inscribed on it in white. It is a nice one. — Terry, Lewiston

DEAR SUN SPOTS: For the lady looking for plastic dish to coat food with flour before you fry it, that appeared in the paper on Nov. 22. The item is called Batter Pro, and is an “As Seen on TV” item. You can purchase it online for as little as $11.99. I got mine in a store that sells As Seen on TV items. I think it was Bed, Bath & Beyond. — Charlene LaBonte via email
