NORWAY — Thomas P. Wood, 81, of Norway, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Stephens Memorial Hospital, with his family by his side.

He was born in Norway, April 5, 1930, the son of Earl and Mildred Hannah Tucker Wood. He attended Norway High School. He worked in the woods and as an oiler on road construction. From there, he went on to proudly serve his country in the U. S. Army, stationed in Germany in 1951, and was honorably discharged in 1953.

In 1966, Tom joined the Bangor Local and worked as a steamfitter and pipefitter, retiring as a member of the Lewiston Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 783 in 1992. Tom was a 50-year member of the American Legion Post 82 in Norway. Tom married Nancy Dehart Greene in 1968. They had two wonderful sons, Peter and Timothy.

When Tom wasn’t away working, he spent his time enjoying Maine’s great outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping with family and friends, one of his favorite places being Wilsons Mills, where he and his brother owned a camp.

Tom is survived by his long-time companion, Mary Adkins; sons, Peter Wood and his wife, Rhonda and Timothy Wood and his girlfriend, Karen Chadburn, all of Norway; his ex-wife, Nancy Wood; granddaughter, Bailey Wood; stepgrandchildren, Forrest and Silas Todd; nieces, Nora Davis and husband, John, Anita Wood and Mike Leblanc; and a sister, Arlene Flint.

He was predeceased by his mother and father; a sister, Gilda; and two brothers, Gard and Lawrence.

The family would like to thank the staff at Stephens Memorial Hospital, especially Dr. Eshleman for his care over the years and for standing by the family throughout everything. Tom will be greatly missed as he continues his journey and meets back up with Gard and Sam and gets back to hunting.
