Grade 5-6 Girls
Auburn/Lewiston “Y” 25, Lawrence 20: Piper Norcross directed the offense from the point and also tossed in a game-high 11 points to lead the “Y” to a 25-20 verdict over Lawrence. Grace Beaudet added seven points and strong defense in an all around effort. Emmy Lashua and Lauren Jutras controlled the boards and combined to add three points. Jade Perry added two points in a strong two-way effort and Taylor Depot added two clutch free throws late in the game to round out the scoring. Doing the dirty work for the winners were Courtney Richard, Teagan Galway, Kathryn Childs and Sarah Sterling. The “Y” girls are now 1-0 on the season.
Grade 3-4 Boys
Oak Hill 24, Auburn/Lewiston “Y” 18: The “Y” 3rd grade boys battled valiantly before eventually succumbing to Oak Hill’s 3rd/4th grade squad 24-18. The younger “Y” squad gave Oak Hill all they could handle before fading in the 4th quarter. Caleb Leighton led the Oak Hill offense with eight points. Tanner Wright (six), Kyle Shelky (four), Isaiah Morgan (three), Gavin Rawstron (two) and Colby Leighton (one) were the other Oak Hill scorers. Tyson Green and Ben Poland led the “Y” with six points each. Quincy Coachman added four and Devonte Scott two to complete the scoring. Defensive standouts for the “Y” were: Anson Perry, Cayden Childs and Dylan Sellinger. The “Y” falls to 0-1 for the season.
Grade 7-8 Girls
Mtn. Valley Eagles 49, River Valley Hornets 46: Liza White scored 23 points and Emily Billings added 14 to give Mountain Valley the edge in an entertaining middle schools girls’ travel hoop clash. Abigail Robertson led River Valley with 21 points. Ashley Kelley chipped in seven.
