MEXICO — An accident on Route 120 limited traffic to one lane and sent one woman to the hospital at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday.

Sandra Standeven of Andover was driving a black Dodge Durango north on Route 120 when she lost control of her vehicle, Mexico police Chief James Theriault said. Standeven’s mother, Jane Reed, 78, was also in the vehicle.

Theriault said the road in that area has a washboard effect, and Standeven said the rear of her vehicle began to swerve as she came down the hill.

“Speed may also have been a factor,” Theriault said.

The vehicle went into the ditch, and the front and rear tires on the passenger side were blown out, Theriault said.

Mexico Fire Department and Med-Care Ambulance also responded to the scene.

Reed was transported to a local hospital after complaining about pain in her ribs, Theriault said. He believed the pain was caused by her seat belt.

The Mexico Fire Department limited Route 120 to one lane while Theriault waited for a wrecker from Bethel.
