LIVERMORE FALLS — Regional School Unit 73 directors will consider entering into an adult and community education partnership on Thursday with Mt. Blue’s RSU 9 in the Farmington area and RSU 52 in Turner area.

RSU 73 in Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls is currently partners with RSU 52, Superintendent Bob Wall said.

The school board’s meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Cedar Street boardroom in Livermore Falls. The board will hold an executive session at the meeting’s opening to discuss the suspensions/expulsion of a student.

Wall estimated the executive session could take between 60 and 90 minutes, maybe more, maybe less.

The regular meeting business will follow. The board will look at a memorandum of understanding for a regional association for an adult and community education partnership that would cover northern Androscoggin County and Franklin County.

The agreement calls for the RSU 73 adult education program to support the association with a payment of $30,000 and make comprehensive services available through the RSU adult education coordinator for any students from the regional towns.

It would also provide the salary and benefits for services of an onsite adult education coordinator based at the RSU 73 Adult and Community Education office at the Community Building at the Spruce Mountain Middle School in Jay.

The association is being organized to provide comprehensive and responsive program options for adult learners in the region.

There will be no additional cost to the district, Wall said. Each of the RSU 73 towns currently raises $40,000 each for the program, and the money to join the association will come out of that.

The partnership is also expected to attract more grant opportunities and provide an adult education presence for the entire region, he said.
