Coach: Todd Mercer (fifth year)

Last year’s record: Boys: Eighth in WMC; Girls: Sixth in WMC, fifth in Class A,

Returning players: Boys: Seniors — Sam Miklovich (sprints), Jon Greenleaf (sprints), Randall Stevens (sprints), Dillon Fowler (distance), Josh Bagdon (hurdles); Junior — Josh Greenleaf (sprints); Sophomore — Devin Griffin (sprints); Girls: Seniors — Amanda Peterson (sprints), Katie Hutchinson (shot put); Juniors — Sandi Ricardi (jumps), Liz Audet (jumps).

Key losses: Sam Eldridge.

Newcomers: Girls: Freshman — Mikala MacLaine (distance).

Outlook: With 20 seniors, the Patriots hope to be a threat to WMC powers Greely, Falmouth and York. Peterson is a two-time state champion in the 200, won the 55 last year and is the favorite to defend both titles this year. Ricardi will be a strong state competitor. The boys have some intriguing potential in the sprints and should be very competitive in the relays.

Coach’s comment: “We have a good, strong upper class with some serious talent on the senior side.” — Coach Todd Mercer
