LIVERMORE FALLS — Regional School Unit 73 directors approved Superintendent Robert Wall’s nomination of Lynn Smith of Jay to fill the new position of administrative assistant in the central office for 2011-12.

Smith, currently a guidance secretary at Spruce Mountain High School, will process human resources and data management in the district. She will answer to the superintendent.

The position, approved by the board in October, is year-round, Wall said Monday.

Smith will be paid $18 an hour for eight hours a day.

The new position is part of the restructuring of the central office, Wall said.

The district is not filling a payroll manager position that was vacated by Janice Cloutier on Oct. 14. It is also not filling a vacant assistant superintendent position formerly held by Sue Pratt. She left the district in August to become superintendent of RSU 40 in Knox and Lincoln counties.

The job description for the position states that the support assistant guides and manages the overall provision of human resource services, policies and programs for the district. Major areas of management can include recruiting, staffing, record-keeping, correspondence and personnel files.

Smith has worked as a guidance secretary at the high school in Jay for seven years, she said Monday.

She will begin her new job as soon as a suitable candidate is found to fill the guidance counselor position, Wall said.

Smith was previously a human resource manager for five years at Maine Wood Turning in New Vineyard and worked in human resources at G.H. Bass & Co. in Wilton.
