YARMOUTH — Taylor Landry registered a hat trick Wednesday to propel Edward Little/Leavitt to a 5-1 victory over Yarmouth in girls’ hockey action.

Danica Nadeau gave the Red Hornets a 1-0 advantage just 14:07 into the first frame. Landry made it a 2-0 contest early in the second period in what was essentially the game-winner.

She completed the trifecta soon after the third period began with an assist from Nadeau. Sydney Nelson also tallied to complete the scoring.

Ariel Potter scored the lone goal for Yarmouth at the 11:30 mark of the third period. Tori Sanford was rock-solid between the pipes for EL/Leavitt.

Boys’ hockey

Thornton 4, Lewiston 1

SACO — C.J. Maksut netted two goals Wednesday evening as Thornton skated to a 4-1 victory over Lewiston in a KVAC boys’ hockey tilt.

Andrew Carrigan an Rob Downing also tallied for the Trojans (2-0) to complete the scoring. Thornton outshot the Blue Devils (1-1) 30-23 in a lopsided matchup.

Matt Poulin scored the lone goal for Lewiston, while Evan Bourassa handled netkeeping duties.

Poland/G-NG 7, Westbrook 0

AUBURN — Adam Healy recorded a hat trick Wednesday to propel Poland/Gray-New Gloucester to a 7-0 rout over Westbrook in hockey action.

Kaleb Bridgham, Ethan Callier, Ryan Davala and Nevin Rand also tallied for the Patriotic Knights (2-0) to complete the scoring.

Calvin Shelley (10) and Jake Simard (3) split time between the pipes for Poland/Gray-New Gloucester, while Ricky Henward made an impressive 31 saves for Westbrook.

Hampden 6, Leavitt 1

AUBURN — Hampden Academy erupted with four goals in the third period and six players each scored a goal as Hampden Academy dismissed Leavitt with a 6-1 victory in a hockey game Wednesday.

The Hornets (1-1) stayed neck and neck with the undefeated Broncos (2-0) after moving within one goal when Ian Durgin punched in an unassisted goal.

Josh Kocick and Marc Albert each scored to give Hampden a 2-0 lead going into the second period before Durgin tucked in his goal.

In the third period, Calvin Costa-Vogel, Rob Stowe, Mike Ward and Matt Closson each scored for the Broncos.
