LEWISTON — The Auburn Exchange Club, in collaboration with L/A Arts, hosted a Halloween window-painting contest on Oct. 15, with more than 30 Lewiston fifth- and sixth-graders representing six different schools taking part.

There was a festive atmosphere as the kids gathered at the L/A Arts office on Lisbon Street to pick up their paint colors and their assigned windows. The contest started at 10 a.m., and all the kids had two hours to decorate the windows any way they wanted at Rowe Ford, and Lisbon Street storefronts at the 12 Hour Club, Terry’s Bridal Fashions, Berman and Simmons Law offices and Dube’s Flower Shop.

L/A Arts executive director Odell Bowman officiated in the judging of the painting and provided cider and donuts for all the participants. The artists at Rowe Ford had a surprise treat of pizza after they completed their paintings. All of the participating students received a free T-shirt courtesy of the Sign Shack.

The three winners were as follows: first place, $100 prize: Lindsay Morin, a sixth-grade student from Geiger Elementary School; second place, $75 prize: Nicole Morin, a sixth-grade student from Montello Elementary School; third place, $50 prize: Timisha Robinson, a fifth-grade student from McMahon Elementary School.
