LEWISTON — Argo Marketing Group, a customer service and marketing company based in Lewiston, announced Thursday a major expansion of its operations in Pittsfield with the addition of up to 50 new jobs.

Argo has finalized the acquisition of the former GCS call center in the Somerset Plaza in Pittsfield, Argo CEO Jason Levesque said. In a statement, Levesque said Argo is immediately hiring 20 employees, with plans to hire 30 more within two months.

“In the most challenging economy since the Great Depression, Argo has managed to provide its clients with superior service, and as a result we have continually grown, despite the challenges,” Levesque said in a prepared statement. “Our expansion into the greater Pittsfield/Newport region will give a significant boost to the local economy by providing jobs while giving us additional capacity to continue leading in this important industry.”

Argo provides customer support for a variety of corporations nationwide through telephone, Web and social media. It also offers customized telephone programming, cloud-based call routing and third-party telemarketing management. The company was founded by Levesque in 2003.
