LISBON FALLS — Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Alexander L. Saindon, son of Kerstin Palmer of Lisbon Falls and Stephens Saindon of Richmond recently received a citation for outstanding performance of his duties while serving aboard USS Helena (SSN 725), Naval Station Norfolk, Va.

Saindon consistently performed his demanding duties in an exemplary and highly professional manner. As a junior member of the Navigation Division he was key to restoration of divisional spaces, easing transition back on board the submarine.

Saindon took “looking out for shipmates” to a whole new level by being an active member in the command’s duty driver program resulting in Helena being DUI free for more than two years. He also had a positive effect on crew moral while serving as a food service attendant for 60 days straight.

Saindon is a 2008 graduate of Brunswick High School of Brunswick and joined the Navy in Nov. 2009.
