AUBURN — Edward Little used a 10-0 run to end the first half to pull away for a 50-22 victory over Brunswick in a KVAC girls’ basketball game Friday.
Brunswick kept it close for the first quarter-and-a-half before the Red Eddies (1-2) took off.
Juniors Ashlee Arnold and Kate Sawyer each sank a pair of 3-pointers in the second quarter. EL put the clamps down in the third quarter, holding the Dragons (1-2) to just one free throw.
Sawyer finished with a game-high 15 points for Edward Little.Jen Champagne led Brunswick with six points.
Buckfield 45, Hebron 4
BUCKFIELD — Buckfield held a 17-4 advantage after one period and shut out the Lumberjacks for the final three periods en route to a 45-4 victory over Hebron in girls’ basketball action.
Senior forward Danielle Patrie led all scorers with 11 points, including one 3-pointer in the victory. Seniors Abby Bragg and Kaitlyn Rines finished with 10 and eight points, respectively for the Bucks (2-1).
Donita Sharkey and Atupele Machika each netted a basket for Hebron (0-3).
Rangeley 63, Valley 22
BINGHAM — Jenney Abbott dumped in 15 points while grabbing 13 rebounds to help lead Rangeley to a 63-22 victory over Valley in a Class D girls’ basketball game.
The junior forward snagged eight offensive boards while grabbing five steals in the victory.
Holding a 31-15 halftime edge, the Lakers (3-0) pulled away with a 21-3 third quarter. Emily Carrier led all scorers with 16 points, including a pair from behind the arc. She also dished out four assists. Freshman guard Seve Deery-DeRaps also sank a 3-pointer to finish the game with nine points.
Teagan Laweryson pace the Cavaliers (0-3) with seven points. Sydney Vincent hit a pair of 3-point baskets for six points in the loss.
Brewer 51, Lewiston 27
LEWISTON — Lindsay Houp punched in six 3-pointers and piled up the game-high 24 points as Brewer rolled over Lewiston, 51-27, in a KVAC girls’ basketball game Friday night.
The Witches (1-2) held the winless Blue Devils to single-digit scoring for three quarters and jumped out to a 26-13 lead by halftime.
Morgan Small scored 18 points for Brewer. Lewiston’s Erica Brochu was the leading scorer with eight points.
Lisbon 32, St. Dom’s 29
LISBON — Senior foward Jessica Campell tossed a game-high 14 points with five steals and seven rebounds to lead Lisbon to a 32-29 triumph over St. Dom’s in MVC girls’ basketball action Friday.
The Greyhounds (1-2) came out in the third quarter with an added defensive intensity, taking advantage of St. Dom’s mistakes and converting outside shots.
Senior guard Mary Caron recorded a team-high 13 points for the Saints (0-3) in the losing effort.
Leavitt 45, Oak Hill 30
TURNER — Junior guard Kristen Anderson scored 26 points and added five assists and four steals to carry Leavitt to a 45-30 victory over Oak Hill in KVAC girls’ basketball action Friday.
The Hornets had a slow defensive start, but nearly shut out Oak Hill in the second quarter, giving up just one point. Leavitt led 40-14 at the half.
Senior forward Adrianna Newton contributed 19 points on nine field goals and one from the charity stripe.
The Raiders came up with three treys in the third quater to give Leavitt a bit of a jolt. The Hornets responded with another strong frame in the fourth, outscoring Oak Hill 20-4 down the stretch.
Hamden 50, Mt. Blue 31
HAMDEN — Maxi Jordan piloted 22 points to lead Hamden Academy to a 50-31 victory over Mt. Blue in KVAC girls’ basketball action Friday.
The Cougars (1-2) lost valuable ground in a 21-11 second quarter to trail 26-16 at halftime.
Freshman center Abbie Brinkham tossed a team-high seven points for Mt. Blue. The Broncos (1-2) allowed Mt. Blue a three-point spread in the third quater, but pulled away with a 14-2 run in the final frame. Ashley Danforth chipped in with four field goals for eight points in the winning effort.
