AUBURN — A Lewiston man accused of murdering a woman whose body hasn’t been found will not be given bail, a judge said.
Prosecutors outlined their case against Buddy Robinson, 30, by calling witnesses and introducing exhibits over four days in Androscoggin County Superior Court.
Justice MaryGay Kennedy, who presided over the hearing, said Wednesday that evidence presented by prosecutors showed probable cause exists that murder, a formerly capital offense, occurred. For that reason, Robinson had no constitutional right to bail.
Maine’s Deputy Attorney General William Stokes called witnesses who said Robinson had admitted assaulting and drowning 22-year-old Christiana Fesmire before putting her body in the trunk of a car and carrying it into woods where he dumped it.
Prosecutors also called police detectives and a forensic analyst who identified blood spattered at Fesmire’s last known address as hers.
