Simoneau

LIVERMORE FALLS — The Simoneau family gathered at La Fleur’s Restaurant in Jay on Nov. 18 to celebrate the 65th wedding anniversary of Bertrand Simoneau and Doris Ouellette Simoneau of Livermore Falls.

The couple was married Nov. 18, 1946, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Chisholm. Mrs. Simoneau is the daughter of the late Alfred Ouellette and Annie Castonguay Ouellette and Mr. Simoneau is the son of the late Joseph Donat Simoneau and Lea Therrien Simoneau.

Joining the couple at the restaurant were their son, Michael Simoneau and his friend, Virginia Paulson, and son, Donald and his wife, Roberta. Also attending were grandchildren, John Simoneau and his wife, Kim, and their children, Clorinda and Sarah of Durham and grandchild, David Simoneau and his wife, Pam, with their children, Alex and Madison, of Chester, N.H. and granddaughter, Ann Simoneau Messer, of Falmouth, Mass.

A great meal was shared along with great memories and many hugs and stories.

Unable to attend were son, Patrick Simoneau and his wife, Barbara, and grandchildren, Michelle Simoneau Callen and husband, Chad Callen, and great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Cortney and Dustin of Henderson, Nev., and Sean Simoneau and wife, Chem Oelrich Simoneau, and great-grandchildren, Sean, Drew and Isabelle Simoneau, also of Henderson, Nev.

Also unable to attend were children of Michael Simoneau, daughter, Christina Simoneau Washtmerster and husband, Eric Washtmerster, and their daughter, Elina of Warrenton, Va., son, Timothy Simoneau of Conway, N.H., and son, Matthew Simoneau and his wife, Melissa Carr Simoneau, of Waterford. Also unable to attend were son, Daniel Simoneau and his wife, Kelly Krichko Simoneau, and their children, Taylor, Tanner and Tristan, of Bend, Ore.

Guests attended from Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine.
 
Mr. Simoneau served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the destroyer tender AD 17 Piedmont in the South Pacific. He is a past member of the Blue Falcons Drum and Bugle from American Legion Post 10 and former commander of the post.
 
The couple has volunteered from Cub Scouts to religious education and Mrs. Simoneau worked for Skip Mann at Mann’s Clothing in the 1960s and 1970s, and the florist shop before Flower Barn, located in Livermore Falls next door to Ham’s Drug Store, long ago. Mr. Simoneau retired from International Paper Co with 43 years employment as boss machine tender at the Androscoggin Mill.
