FRYEBURG — Senior guard Maggie McConkey sank three free throws in the final quarter as Fryeburg executed a come-from-behind 44-43 win over Poland in WMC girls’ basketball action Tuesday.
Sophomore guard Emily Bolduc scored a team-leading 15 points on four field goals, including one from three-point range, and six free throws for the Knights (0-5). Brittina Maheux contributed 11 points for Poland.
The Raiders (1-4) went to the free-throw line 11 times in the fourth quarter, sinking seven to secure their first win of the season.
Richmond 43, Rangeley 41
RICHMOND — Junior center Jamie Plummer drained the lake with 33 points to lift Richmond to a 43-41 victory over Rangeley in EWC girls’ basketball action Tuesday.
The Lakers (3-1) took a 37-28 lead in the third quarter, but struggled to put points on the board in the fourth frame. Plummer nailed down 14 field goals and five free throws for the Bobcats (4-0) to account for her game-high 33 points.
Senior Emily Carrier posted a team-high 12 points for the Lakers, while Changel Carrier contributed 10.
Maranacook 35, Oak Hill 27
WALES — Hanna Clough scored 11 points and Hannah Cumler added 10 as Maranacook used a dominant third quarter to take care of Oak Hill, 35-27, in KVAC girls’ basketball action Tuesday. Sara Clough had the game’s only 3-pointer and finished with eight for the Black Bears (2-2).
Megan Crosby paced the Raiders (0-4) with 11, while Darby Beaulieu chipped in with eight.
Cony 71, Lewiston 41
LEWISTON — Cony jumped out to a 13-point advantage in the first frame and raced away to a 71-41 romp over Lewiston in KVAC girls’ basketball action Tuesday.
Mia Diplock led the Rams (4-0) with a game-high 22 points, while Jose Lee tallied 19 and Melanie Guzman added 15 in a balanced attack. Cony held a 35-12 lead at the break and was never challenged.
The Blue Devils (0-4) were paced by Tori Denis with eight points, while Brie Wilson chipped in with six.
Leavitt 77, Lincoln 33
NEWCASTLE — Leavitt went on a 30-8 rampage in the first frame and cruised away to record a 77-33 merciless win over Lincoln Academy in a KVAC girls’ matchup Tuesday.
Kristen Anderson led the mighty Hornets (4-0) with 23 points, while Adrie Newton tallied 19 and Amanda Jordan added 10.
Lincoln (0-4) was paced by Jen Genthner with a solid 14-point effort, their only player in double figures.
EL 77, Erskine 36
SOUTH CHINA — Kory Norcross led a four-girl assault Tuesday as Edward Little pulled away to a 77-36 rout over Erskine in KVAC girls’ action.
Norcross finished with 20 points for the Red Eddies (2-2), while Crissy Lewis and Kate Sawyer each tallied 12. MaryKate Masters also contributed with an 11-point effort.
Bridgett Humphrey led the way for Erskine (1-3) with eight points, while Amy Phillips added six.
Edward Little held a 24-7 advantage in their first frame and was never challenged.
