PARIS — Adults and students from Oxford Hills will once again team up to perform a Broadway musical, this time, “Damn Yankees.”

Auditions for dancers, actors, singers and musicians will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 3-4, in the music room at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. Call-backs will be on Thursday, Jan. 5.

Auditioners should come prepared to sing a song from the show, or bring music or prepared accompaniment for the musical audition or a prepared dance piece. Music may be picked up in the school’s music department.

“Damn Yankees,” based on the novel “The Year The Yankees Lost The Pennant,” tells the story of a middle-aged baseball fanatic named Joe Boyd who trades his soul to the Devil (the charming but devious Mr. Applegate) for a chance to lead his favorite team to victory in the pennant race against the New York Yankees.

As young baseball sensation Joe Hardy, he transforms the hapless Washington Senators into a winning team, only to realize the true worth of the life (and wife) he has left behind. With the help of a handy escape clause and a guilt-ridden temptress named Lola, Joe outsmarts Applegate, returns to his former self and shepherds the Senators to the World Series.

Directing the show, with more than 70 people as cast and crew, is Carol Brown.

“Damn Yankees” will be presented at 7:30 p.m. March 30-31 and at 1:30 p.m. April 1 in the Mark S. Eastman Auditorium, a 550-seat venue, at OHCHS.
