BRUNSWICK, Maine — Authorities still are searching for answers after the discovery Thursday of a dead body near a set of railroad tracks in Brunswick.
Brunswick police Lt. Thomas Garrepy said Saturday morning that the man’s identity and cause of death still were unknown and that investigators were awaiting the results of an autopsy by the state medical examiner. A woman who answered the phone at the medical examiner’s office Saturday said she didn’t expect any new information to be available about the man until Monday.
The man, who is estimated to be in his mid-40s to mid-50s, was discovered Thursday near railroad tracks between Bath Road and Route 1, which are situated close to a strip mall, the former Brunswick Naval Air Station and several other businesses. The body, which bore no identifying documents or obvious cause of death, according to Garrepy, was found near a small makeshift campsite.
Anyone with information about who might have been living near the tracks is asked to call Brunswick police at 725-5521.
