PORTLAND — Steely Dan guitarist Jon Herington and his New York City-based band will play Sunday, Jan. 29, at One Longfellow Square.

Herington is lead singer, guitarist and songwriter for his band also featuring Frank Pagano on drums and vocals; and Dennis Espantman on bass and vocals.

Since late 1999, Herington has been the guitarist of choice with Steely Dan for both recording and touring. He also toured with Donald Fagen, Boz Scaggs, Bette Midler, the Jim Beard group, the contemporary jazz band Chroma and, most recently, with the Dukes of September, a group with Fagen, Scaggs and Michael McDonald.

Herington’s newest release is “shine (shine shine),” described on his website as “a collection of instantly classic sounding pop-rock songs” with “great support” supplied by his two fellow band members.

The concert will be at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance, $23 at the door, 181 State St. call 761-1757.
