RUMFORD — William J. “Baldy” Cunningham, 90, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, at the Rumford Hospital. He was a resident of Penobscot Street, Rumford.
He was born in Rumford, Aug. 14, 1921, a son of Peter and Lozia (Richard) Cunningham. He attended Rumford schools. He served in the U.S. Army and National Guard as a master sergeant. He worked for Boise Cascade Paper Mill in Rumford as a tin knocker until his retirement.
He was a communicant of the Parish of the Holy Savior St. Athanasius–St. John Church, where he was a very active volunteer. He was a member of Ambrose J Barry Council 2091 Knights of Columbus, Robert Shand Post 1641 VFW and Napoleon Ouellette Post 24 American Legion.
He was married in Rumford, May 29, 1948, to Selina Gallant, who died in Rumford, Nov. 19, 2004.
Survivors include two daughters, Marie Curato and her husband, Michael “Dane,” of Rumford and Gloria Aron and her husband, Michael, of Harpswell; grandchildren, Tracy Prather and her husband, Scott, of Smyrna, Ga., Cara Vicari and her husband, Keith, of Rumford, Lani Bisson and her husband, Jeff, of Rumford and Patrick Aron and his wife, Erin, of Topsham; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Lola Bisson, Michael and Mary Claire Prather and Jameson Aron; and a brother, Peter Cunningham and his wife, Jeanne, of Rumford.
