NEW GLOUCESTER — Balkan duo Cinder Conk will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at the New Gloucester Village Coffee House.

Double bass player Xar Adelberg and accordion player Matthew Schreiber perform an array of original and Balkan music, including the vibrant, colorful sound of Roma (gypsy) folk dance.

In the past year, Cinder Conk released a CD, “Kukeri,” and played extensively, including dates at the Free Range Music Fest in Belfast; Golden Fest and Barbes in Brooklyn, N.Y.; and the renowned WDVX Blue Plate Special in Knoxville, Tenn.

Adelberg previously played with Ameranouche and Five Star Loser. Schreiber spent the summer in Serbia immersed in Serbian Romani music, language and culture; and has composed music for films produced in five countries.
