I am writing so that those in the top 1 percent might understand why the 99 percent is upset.

It begins with elected officials who are incompetent in the job the public elected them to do. So many act like movie stars and seem to think their pay should be equal. They vote themselves raises because of the increase in the cost of living and then, in the same breath, refuse to raise the minimum wage.

They need to take some time off and check reality if they want to serve the people. Then they can go back to their lives. And if they want to become millionaires, that is just fine, but they should make it on their own. How dare they ask the public to make sacrifices while they splurge.

I couldn’t believe Sen. Susan Collins, who said this is a bad time to raise taxes on the wealthy. Must be just them, because my real estate taxes just went up $400. But Collins cannot make any sacrifices, even with all her money.

The government is out of control.

I propose that on July 4, the American people march on Washington, D.C.; and, on Election Day, vote out those incompetent officials in Congress; send them packing and rewrite their ridiculous pensions.

Perhaps we should pay elected officials a minimum wage. That would put an end to career politicians.

They should be working for the good of all the people, not to fatten their own wallets.
