RANGELEY — Mike Haley sank a free throw with 1.2 seconds remaining in the first overtime to break a deadlock and lift Rangeley to a 62-61 victory over Buckfield in an EWC boys’ basketball game Tuesday.

Buckfield (1-4) rallied from a seven-point deficit in the final quarter to take the lead, but Rangeley’s Alex Morton hit an 8-foot jumper to force overtime at 51-51.

Eric White, who led Rangeley (3-3) with 21 points, hit five of six free throws in overtime.

Alan Hedrick led Buckfield with 21 points, while Austin Dooley chipped in with 20 points.

For Rangeley, Kyle Haley had 15 points and eight rebounds, while Morton finished with 13 points, nine rebounds and four assists. White had eight rebounds to go with his 21 points.

Oxford Hills 45, EL 42

PARIS — Oxford Hills exploded with 27 points in the first half and waited out Edward Little before slipping away with a 45-42 victory in a boys’ basketball game Tuesday night.

The Vikings (2-5) built a 27-20 lead in the first half and held the Red Eddies (4-3) to seven points in the last quarter. Oxford Hills’ Ryan Godin, Jordan Croteau and Deric Hanscom each scored eight points to lead the way. Teammate Josh MacDonald scored seven and pulled down 11 rebounds.’

For the Red Eddies, Quinn Leary scored 14 points and pulled down nine rebounds. Ian Therriault scored 10 points and hit seven free throws down the stretch.

Boothbay 65, Mountain Valley 53

BOOTHBAY HARBOR — After racing out to a double-digit lead in the first quarter, Boothbay thwarted a Mountain Valley comeback by converting its free throws down the stretch for a 65-53 triumph in an MVC boys’ game Tuesday.

Defensive pressure helped Boothbay (6-1) jump out to an 18-5 lead after the first quarter en route to leads of 31-16 and 45-34 following the middle two frames.

Steady shooting from the perimeter allowed the Falcons to close to within eight points in the final stanza, but Boothbay went 12 for 14 from the foul line in the final quarter to maintain a comfortable cushion.

The Falcons finished with 10 3-pointers.

Jacob Theriault scored a game-high 23 points to pace the Falcons, while Zak Radcliffe added 10 points. John Hepburn and Anthony Demoreay led Boothbay’s balanced attack with 11 points apiece, while Kameron Marquis and Ben Dickinsion had 10 apiece.

Lewiston 53, Mt. Ararat 49

TOPSHAM — Josh Thomas ignited a 16-12 run in the fourth quarter that allowed Lewiston to pull out a narrow 53-49 victory over Mt. Ararat in KVAC boys’ action Tuesday.

Thomas finished with 11 points for the Blue Devils (6-1), including six in that key fourth frame. Donne Agossou also contributed with 10 points in what was essentially a two-man attack.

Mason Griffin led the winless Eagles (0-7) with a solid 11-point performance.

Telstar 60, Lisbon 47

LISBON — Danny Whitney nailed down the game-high 16 points and Howard Corey was close by with 14 as Telstar frustrated Lisbon with a 60-47 victory in a boys’ basketball game Tuesday night.

The Rebels (3-3) jumped out to a 29-21 lead at halftime thanks to help from Nick Mills and Dominic Haines, who each scored 10 points.

For the winless Greyhounds (0-7), Nick Collins scored 10 points.

Leavitt 66, Camden Hills 64

TURNER — Andrew Middleton made a heads-up steal and fed it to Jordan Hersom who found the net with roughly 26 seconds left in regulation to lift Leavitt to a 66-64 win over Camden Hills.

Hersom led the Hornets (6-2) with a game-high 23 points and 18 rebounds. Middleton finished with 18 points, including two shots from beyond the arc. Tyler Walton also contributed with nine points, 10 assists and five steals.

Adam Carlsen led Camden Hills (7-1) with 18 points, while Chandler Crans tallied 13 and Taylor Hall added 11. This was one of the toughest contests Leavitt has endured thus far in the season.

St. Dom’s 39, Monmouth 20

MONMOUTH — Tom Applegate scored 10 points to spark St. Dom’s to a 39-20 victory over Monmouth.

The Mustangs led 7-6 after the first quarter, but the Seahawks used a 13-5 advantage in the seocnd quarter to take command. St. Dom’s then outscored Monmouth 20-8 in the second half.

Applegate was the only player to reach double figures.

Oceanside 100, Oak Hill 40

THOMASTON — Sam Merklin poured in a game-high 24 points as Oceanside rolled to a 100-40 victory over Oak Hill in a KVAC boys’ basketball game Tuesday.

After opening a 17-7 advantage after the first quarter, the hosts expanded the lead to 45-20 at the half and 73-31 after the middle two quarters.

Shea Davenport chipped in with 17 points for Oceanside (7-1).

Leading Oak Hill (0-8) was Parker Asselin with 19 points.

Boys’ hockey

Bangor 6, EL 1

AUBURN — Bangor used its depthy and took a commanding 3-0 lead after two periods before dropping in three more in the final stanza as the Rams knocked down Edward Little with a 6-1 victory in a hockey game Tuesday night.

Parker Sanderson, Zeb Tull and Connor Griffin each scored in the first and second periods. Sanderson’s scored on a shorthanded play and Griffin capitalized on power-play goal.

Edward Little finally responded with on a power-play goal in the third peirod when Jared Pelletier scored thanks to assists from brother Brandon Pelletier and Drew Lupardo.

But the undefeated Rams (5-0) followed up with three more goals when Zack Patsadora, Owen Trendy and Jordan Tracy each scored unanswered goals.
