LEXINGTON TOWNSHIP — Aaron Louis Holbrook, 44, of Phillips, died unexpectedly at his camp on Hancock Pond in Lexington Township on Monday, Jan. 2.

He was born July 20, 1967, in Farmington, the son of Cecil A. And Elaine M. (Abbott) Holbrook. He was educated in the schools of Phillips, graduating from Mt. Abram High School, Class of 1986.

On March 16, 1998, he married his high school sweetheart, Dulcey Ann Lane, at the Orange County Courthouse in Orlando, Fla. He worked for A.A. Brochu, Mike Wahl, Sonny Abbott, Peter Tyler, A.L. Holbrook & Son Logging, Mike Abbott Line Construction, Eastern Utilities of Vermont, and currently employed for CMP as a linesman.

Aaron enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, 4-wheeling, camping, swimming, boating, scratch tickets, playing cards, gambling and gardening. He loved spending time with family and friends having large gatherings, cooking meals on the grill and starting super soaker water fights. He taught many of the children in the family how to hunt and fish and loved to tell hunting and fishing stories.

Every fall he loved to go birdhunting with his dog “Skip.” He was interested in family antiques and old family pictures. Becoming a grandfather came very naturally to him and he loved spending time with his granddaughter of seven months, Rylee Mae Holbrook.

Every spring, he made maple syrup in the sap house that he built on Bray Hill in Phillips. He also built houses in Coplin and Phillips as well as remodeling a home in Stratton and two camps on Hancock Pond.

In the late 1980s he raced snowmobiles and was state champion for two years in a row. He also raced stock cars for a short time. His favorite sayings were “Live for today, may not be here tomorrow” and “The world owes you a living, go find it.”
