AUBURN — A man and woman were indicted Wednesday, accused of kidnapping two people over a $100 theft.

Shunte Jones, 31, of 79 Strawberry Ave., Lewiston, was indicted on two counts of kidnapping, two counts of criminal threatening and charges of assault and aggravated assault.

Dennis Moore, 34, also of 79 Strawberry Ave., was indicted on two counts of kidnapping and two counts of criminal threatening.

Lt. Michael McGonagle of the Lewiston Police Department said the Dec. 3 incident arose as Moore and Jones suspected the other couple had stolen from them.

“Somebody ripped them off $100, and the person that ripped them off’s friend was allegedly kidnapped, taken at gunpoint and driven around the city until they found the kid that ripped them off $100,” McGonagle said. “They assaulted the kid. The kid did receive medical attention, but he’s been released.”

Lewiston police arrested the suspects the day the attack was reported. Each was taken to jail, but both Jones and Moore have since been released. They will be summoned to appear in court on the charges against them.
