DEAR SUN SPOTS: A while ago I saw a painting that I loved at the Salvation Army on Main Street in Lewiston. I didn’t buy it because it was $20. I decided to wait for Wednesday and get it for half price.

Needless to say, it was gone when I returned. I still regret that bit of frugality.

If the person who purchased it would like to sell it to me, I would be thrilled. It showed a pig jumping off a dock at a lake. It hit my funny bone just right.

Many thanks. — Joan Rines, 353-6401, joan.rines@yahoo.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: On Dec. 15 the Sun Journal published an article on Jessica Lynch, the former Iraq war POW, on her recent graduation from college. Can you find out her address so I can write to her? — No Name, No Town.

ANSWER: Sun Spots found this address online. Even if it’s not exactly right, Jessica may get your letter anyway, as her hometown is small and Jessica gets a lot of mail — much of it unpleasant, unfortunately. Some people accuse her, rather than the military, for exaggerating the story of her rescue.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Do you know of anyone who makes teddy bears out of shirts? My sister died, and I have one of her favorite shirts. I would like to have it made into a teddy bear. Thanks. — Grace o”keefe, grdmaandretti@aol.com

ANSWER: Sun Spots has the name of two seamstresses who make teddy bears out of old fur coats. Seems like a bear out of an old shirt should be easy for them.

I failed to save your information on doll repair and now find a need for it. As we do not have a computer, we would appreciate the name and telephone number of the repair person. — J.A., Rumford

ANSWER: Sun Spots does not think she deserves so much credit. It should go to the many wonderful websites on the Internet, plus her readers. In this case, the doll repair person wrote to Sun Spots after seeing a request in the column.

You can reach Linda at a Special Place for Dolls in Wales at 375-7255.
