NORWAY — Community Concepts will hold 1, 2, 3, 4 Parents! sessions from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 10, 17 and 24, at the Norway Public Library, 258 Main St.

Otisfield pantry

OTISFIELD — The Food Pantry will be open from from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Jan. 17, at Spurrs Corner Church, Route 121. The pantry is open the first and third Tuesdays of each month from 10 a.m. to noon. For more information, call 583-4780 or 627-4329.

West Paris pantry

WEST PARIS — The Neighborhood Niche Food Pantry will be open from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at West Paris Baptist Church, 15 Church St.

West Paris residents are invited to come once a month.

The pantry is open from 1 to 3 p.m. the first Wednesday and from noon to 2 p.m. the third Saturday of each month.

Cryptogram contest

PARIS — Accomplished word lovers are invited to a “Cryptogram Heat” at the Paris Public Library at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23. A copy of the same cryptogram will be given to each participant in an envelope with a pencil. Everyone will begin at the same time. The winner of the first heat will be the first to complete the cryptogram correctly. Time will be extended to the second- and third-place winners.

Master gardener

PARIS — The University of Maine Cooperative Extension will again offer the popular master gardener volunteer training from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays starting Jan. 26, at the Extension office. “The Master Gardener course is a fun way for gardeners to learn the science of gardening and then use that knowledge to grow and donate food to the community,” said Barbara Murphy, Extension educator and coordinator of the training. “Last year over 18,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables were grown and donated from Oxford County.”

The training will focus on fruit and vegetable production, composting, season extension as well as botany, soil science and pest management.
