DEAR SUN SPOTS: I just found out that there is a leather worker in town after all! So there is no longer any need to go to Brunswick. If you need either creation or repair work done, please contact Ali Shongole at 344-7665. He lives in downtown Lewiston, the Maple Street area. His children speak good English. He fixed my broken purse strap very nicely. — Elizabeth Eames, Bates College, eeames@bates.edu

ANSWER: Elizabeth said there are some other new Somali immigrant leather workers in Lewiston as well. If they want to be listed in Sun Spots’ Rolodex, they should let her know.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Many people have asked Sun Spots about whether there are any more local shoe repair shops. My husband and I purchased Mid-Coast Shoe Repair in Brunswick this year.

We would like to offer a courier service for shoe and leather repairs for local folks at Sound Limbs Orthotics & Prosthetics, 39 South Lisbon Road, Lewiston, which we also own. If anyone is interested in drop off and pickup service, they can email for more information. — Elizabeth Park, midcoastshoe@gmail.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am wondering if anyone has a pair of older snowshoes. We have an ice shack that we use daily on Sabattus Pond (when the weather permits) and would love to have a pair to display. I am hoping to buy some at a reasonable cost. I will keep my fingers crossed! — kevintanya97@yahoo.com, 777-7041

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In November I went to the Neighborhood School in Fairbanks. There were two ladies there who were selling honey. I think they were from West Farmington. Could anyone help me find their phone number or email address? I have used all the honey and would like some more. Thank you. — No Name, No Town
