AUBURN — Lucille B. Theriault, 83, of Lewiston, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 7, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, with her family at her side.

Lucille was born in Auburn, Feb. 21, 1928, a daughter of the late Alphonse and Antoinette (Poulin) Belanger. She attended local schools, graduating from Edward Little High School, Class of 1946. On June 13, 1959, she married the love of her life, Normand Theriault, and together they worked and raised their young family in the Lewiston-Auburn area.

Lucille worked as a secretary at the Bates College Athletic Department for several years, until her retirement. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish until it closed, when she joined Prince of Peace Parish. She was known as an avid Bridge player and golfer. She enjoyed playing golf at Prospect Hill and Martindale Country Club in Auburn and at Lakes Golf Club in Plant City, Fla., where she lived in the winter.

Lucille was a member of the American Contract Bridge League and ultimately attained the level of Platinum Life Master. She was an ACBL accredited teacher and a founder and director of the Lewiston Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club. Although she enjoyed these activities immensely, her greatest joy in life was time spent with her sons, daughters-in-law and her two grandchildren.

Lucille is survived by her two sons, David and his wife, Ann (LaCasse) Theriault and James and his wife, Denise (Landry) Theriault; two grandchildren, Jimmy and Elaine Theriault; her brother, Bertrand and his wife, Georgette Belanger, of Lewiston; her brother-in-law, Harvey and his wife, Peg Theriault; her sisters-in-law, Irene Beaulieu, Grace Mercier and Margaret Wright; several nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Rosemary Goodwin and Claire Lyons.

Lucille was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Normand; and her sister, Doris Lepage.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. Jeff Brown, Dr. David Brown, Dr. Courtney Jensen, Dr. Mahesh Pandey and the entire caring staff at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.
