LEWISTON — HealthSteps at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center announces its winter core classes. HealthSteps is part of the Prevention & Wellness Services offered through St. Mary’s Health System. HealthSteps is an award-winning health education and prevention program for adults. HealthSteps programs meet the needs of the whole person, body, mind and spirit.

All core classes are held in the Bates College Merrill Gymnasium. Classes run from Jan. 3 to May 25. The $149 core membership fee, which includes unlimited access to all of the following classes, will be pro-rated.

HealthSteps core classes take place in the morning. All instructors are certified and ready to take you through a safe and productive workout no matter one’s fitness level. For more information or to register, call HealthSteps at 777-8898 or visit www.stmarysmaine.com.

HealthSteps has a wide range of classes with the core membership fee including the following.

Cardio mix: A great class for people who get bored with exercise. Try everything from step to circuits for a fun calorie burning class. Mondays, Wednesdays, 7:45-8:15 a.m.

Core strength: Abdominal and lower back workout to help increase core strength and stability. Tuesdays, Thursdays, 8-8:30 a.m.

Time to stretch: Enjoy a full body stretch for relaxation, peace of mind and an increase in flexibility. Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, 8:15-8:30 a.m.

TNT (Tone-N-Tighten): Weighted workout focuses on total body strengthening. It’s also a great way to increase metabolism. Mondays, Wednesdays, 7-7:45 a.m.; Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, 12:10-12:45 p.m.

X-train interval: New. Alternate between bouts of high- and low-intensity exercises for a calorie blasting class. Low impact options will be provided for all exercises. Fridays, 7:15-8:15 a.m.

Yogalates on the ball: A fusion of yoga and Pilates on an exercise ball to improve coordination and increase flexibility and strength. Tuesdays, Thursdays, 7:15-8 a.m.

Walk jog: Enjoy the indoor track at your own pace. Includes a group warm-up, strengthening, cool-down and stretching. Monday through Friday, 6:05-6:55 a.m.

Open track: New. Additional time for HealthSteps members to enjoy the indoor track. Mondays, Wednesdays, 7-9 a.m.

Lap swim: Swim at your own pace and enjoy this individualized form of exercise in the 25-meter, eight-lane pool supervised by a certified lifeguard. Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, 6:30-7:30 a.m., beginning Feb. 20, 6:05-7:30 a.m.; Tuesdays, Thursdays, 11 a.m. to noon, 6:05 to 7 a.m. swim time available beginning Feb. 21.

Aquatic fitness: Workout that’s easy on joints using the water as resistance. While swimming skills are not needed, a comfort level in both deep and shallow water is important. Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, 6:30-7:15 a.m. and Tuesdays, Thursdays, 11 to 11:45 a.m.
